For sale is a beautiful vintage Rolex Datejust Ref. 16018 from 1983, crafted from solid 18k yellow gold and featuring a distinctive ferrite dial. Paired with a black leather strap and an original Rolex gold buckle, this example combines the classic gold Datejust case with a particularly striking dial.

The Ferrite Dial
The standout feature is its rare ferrite dial, made from an iron-rich ceramic material often grouped alongside Rolex’s stone dials. This example displays a striking mix of black, charcoal and silvery-grey tones, with fine speckling and naturally occurring patterns inherent to the material giving the surface its distinctive appearance.

Applied yellow gold Roman numerals, matching gold hands and the Rolex coronet contrast beautifully with the darker background. Gold lettering and a fine railway minute track complete the dial, with the date at 3 o’clock beneath the characteristic Cyclops magnifier.
