Rolex Datejust 36mm - Ref. 116138

For sale is an immaculate 2004 Rolex Datejust Ref. 116138 in 18k yellow gold, featuring a striking black mirror dial. The 116138 comes factory-fitted with a leather strap rather than a bracelet, this reference offers a particularly elegant take on the classic Datejust.

The Dial
The glossy black mirror-finish dial creates a beautiful contrast against the yellow gold case. Applied gold baton hour markers and matching hands feature luminous inserts, while the white minute track adds definition around the outer edge. The date window sits at 3 o’clock beneath the signature Cyclops magnifier.

The Case
The 36mm case is crafted from solid 18k yellow gold and finished with Rolex’s signature fluted bezel. The 116-series features a more substantial case design with thicker lugs than its predecessors, giving the watch greater wrist presence while retaining the familiar Datejust proportions. Polished surfaces complement the reflective dial, creating a clean and refined appearance.

The Strap and Clasp
Fitted with a brand new original Rolex black alligator leather strap, the watch has a smart, understated finish that complements the dial perfectly. The strap is secured by a solid 18k yellow gold deployant clasp, completing the combination of black leather and yellow gold.

The Movement
Inside is Rolex’s Calibre 3135, a self-winding mechanical movement with chronometer certification and approximately 48 hours of power reserve. It features a quickset date for convenient adjustment and a stop-seconds function for precise time setting.
