Rolex Datejust 36mm Rose Gold - Ref. 1601

We are pleased to offer for sale a Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 from 1969, crafted in solid 18k rose gold and fitted with a matching 18k rose gold President bracelet. This example features a very rare silver diamond dial, with diamonds at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock paired with slim rose gold baton markers.

Case and Bezel
The 36mm case keeps the classic Datejust proportions, with the familiar fluted bezel completing the look. What makes this example more unusual is the solid 18k rose gold, a rarely seen choice for a vintage Datejust that pairs particularly well with the silver dial.

Dial
The standout feature is its rare silver sunburst dial, with three diamonds individually mounted in square settings at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. The remaining hour markers are slender rose gold batons, complemented by matching hands and an applied Rolex coronet beneath the upper diamond. The fine sunburst finish catches the light subtly, while the sloping outer minute track gives the dial its characteristic “pie-pan” profile.

Bracelet
The watch is fitted with a matching 18k rose gold President bracelet. It is secured by a folding box clasp bearing the raised Rolex coronet. The bracelet presents well and shows almost no stretch as seen in the photos.

Movement
Powering the watch is the Rolex Calibre 1570 automatic movement, with a date display at 3 o’clock magnified by the Cyclops lens.

The combination of rose gold, a President bracelet and this unusual three-diamond dial makes this 1969 Datejust a particularly distinctive example of the reference.
