For sale is a classic vintage Rolex Day-Date Ref. 18038 from 1979, crafted in solid 18k yellow gold and presented on a black leather strap with a generic gold-tone Rolex-signed buckle. This example is in excellent condition and combines the timeless proportions of the vintage Day-Date with a particularly striking factory diamond-set configuration.

The 36mm yellow gold case is fitted with Rolex’s iconic fluted bezel, framing a beautiful factory black diamond dial. The deep black backdrop is contrasted by brilliant-cut diamond hour markers, with baguette-cut diamonds at 6 and 9 o’clock, all complemented by gold hands and detailing. The signature day display sits at 12 o’clock, while the date aperture at 3 o’clock is magnified by the Cyclops lens.

Powered by the Rolex Calibre 3055 automatic movement, the Ref. 18038 introduced the convenient quickset date function while retaining the reliability and chronometer-certified precision for which the Day-Date is renowned.
