Rolex Submariner ‘Red Line’ 1969 - Ref. 1680

For sale is a highly collectible Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 'Red Line' - named as such due to the red 'Submariner’ text on the dial which was only produced for a few years before being replaced by the white text found on later 1680 models.

The dial is in excellent original vintage condition and has not been repainted, refinished, repaired or relumed in any way.

The 1680 is the first Submariner to feature a date function, all previous models were ‘time only’ models which made the 1680 especially unique and sought after at the time of its release and even more so today.

This piece is in amazing vintage condition dated back to circa 1969. It features a ‘Feet-First’ Dial which has the depth rating in feet first and metres second. The Lume plots and hands have developed a beautiful yellow patina which adds character to the watch.

The watch is in full working order and is sold with an original Rolex box.

Please note: The lume pip on the bezel insert has fallen out since the pictures were taken so the lume pip will be missing. This is a common issue and the lume pip can be replaced should anyone prefer that.
